Renewal Period
License and registration renewal for the 2026 cycle begins October 1, 2026.
- Regular Renewal: October 1 – November 30, 2026
- Late Renewal: December 1 – December 31, 2026
- Expiration Date: December 31, 2026
- Grace Period: None
All licenses and registrations must be renewed by December 31, 2026. Licenses and registrations will expire at the end of the renewal period with no grace period.
Continuing Education Requirements
Continuing education requirements are based on how long the license or registration has been held during the two-year cycle:
- Held for the full 2-year cycle: 12 hours of continuing education are required before December 31, 2026.
- Held for 1 year of the cycle: 6 hours of continuing education are required before December 31, 2026.
- Registered Apprentices: Continuing education is not required. However, registered apprentices may add an additional 3 months per cycle toward qualifying for a licensing examination.
Please make sure all required continuing education is completed before submitting your renewal.
If you want to verify that you’re ready for renewal, please look at the reported units and make sure it is equal or more than what the information above says you should have.

Journeyman, Residential Wireman, Electrical Contractors, and Special License Holders
For all other licensing, if you failed to renew your license during the renewal period, you will need to apply to retake your exam. You can either do this by completing the online Exam Application and make your payment through the online portal, or you can complete the mail-in form and send in the applicable fee with your application.
